Feb. 7th, 2003 02:09 pmHave been having a very lazy day so far. Just watching Eastenders, the 2 hour omni for the week and then shall get dressed. Have been promising myself a trip to Chapters bookstore extraordinaire so maybe that's what i'll do, and pick up a few groceries while i'm out i guess.
Tried out the dvd player in the computer and it seems to work fine. Video card must be a good one as it played very nicely. The speakers on this are nicer than my old ones as well though they dont 'have the sub woofer whatever thingo. I can change the region on it but only 5 times and then i think it gets stuck at whatever the last region i set it to so will not bother doing that i don't think. I did find a site where there is a hack code for the stand alone dvd to play multi region and i might try one if i find something cheap in the U.K. or get Annie to make me a vcd. IT doesn't really matter much unless they start releasing coronation street stuff on dvd that they dont' release here. :)
Anyway the dvd i was looking at today was Monty Python and the HOly Grail, the special edition. I was browsing through the second disk with the extras on it. A couple of good documentaries, one was shown in 1974 during the making of and one was made a couple of years ago featuring Terry Jones and Michael Palin who were traveling around Scotland rediscovering the locations, primarily Doune Castle and now... i want to go there! It looks like a very well preserved castle just north of Stirling so you could easily do it as a day trip from Glasgow or Edinburgh. Will add it to the list of possible things to do! :) And no, i'm not going to do what many of the tourists apparently do, hop around the courtyard clapping coconut shells! Struth!
