Sunday on Coronation Street
Feb. 23rd, 2003 12:26 pmLine of the Day: Doreen: “People who live in glass houses…” Vera “Oh yeah, throw the Bible at me!!” You gotta love Vera, who gets the next line from the same conversation “You’ve got that much slap on, your face would collapse without it!” And finally, Fizz and Janice discussing Karen’s flash job, Fizz moaning that she wishes she had a job like that , Janice replies “Yeah, I bet Karen does and all!” Got her number, text and otherwise ;)
Everyone thinks Gail should see right through Richard. Well of course she doesn’t. She doesn’t know what we know. She also seems to think they can live on love! He talks her into telling the loans officer lies, she moans that he might be better at that sort of thing than she . … *might*??? But think back. Gail was a great liar in her day. Ask Martin about when Gail lied about where she was going when she wanted an abortion when pregnant for David. What about her affair with Brian’s cousin? And does she not work anymore? Audrey sure assumed she’d be home on a Friday morning, and it wasn’t that early that it would be before work. We see the financial pressure mounting on Richard. And there’s a SOPOD alert, Gail predicting it’s about time they had a bit of luck. Did you remember Richard telling Gail he would teach her how to drive so she could drive the old car when he bought the shiny new red van? What happened to that car?
Vera cracks me up she really does! This whole storyline was so much fun! Who thought Ashley was the guilty one? I didn’t. And I still don’t. That fine paintbrush and that wee little paint pot couldn’t have been the culprits to those honking great white letters painted over two signs. Laughed at Vera and Doreen agreeing on Emma’s lack of concern and then jumping right back into feud mode lol. But I do find the actress, Prunella Gee’s “every word pronounced letter perfect” Northern Accent a bit disconcerting at times. You can tell it isn’t natural.
Peter had a good point. It isn’t fair letting him dangle indefinitely and I think he was justified in setting a deadline for Shelley although that same evening was a bit soon. Blanche was funny, dissing Shelley and then taking off for the hills when she appeared! I really like Peter and Blanche’s interaction. I also think Shelley over reacted to Peter’s grand gesture of home cooking and diamond earrings. He knows he did wrong and he knows what he did wrong. If anyone wants to apologize to me with diamonds, I won’t figuratively toss them back in his face!
Poor Rosie. I wouldn’t have wanted my mother around at school at that age either. Sally got all soft when she realized Rosie was upset but the next morning she was still planning on applying for the job but as usual, she joined 98% of the residents that work within a block of their front doorstep. Then here and Kevin going another round. Booooooorrrrrrrrrring!
I think Karen is being very shabbily treated at work by the staff and her boss. Isn’t there a trial period? If they don’t want her there, surely they can just say it isn’t working out rather than torture her day in and day out. Oooh a flying duck and murial reference! (*looks up at the wall at her own plaster “dooks”*) Helium Boy’s voice is starting to get on my nerves. I think he and Ashley were separated at birth. The more he gets narked with Mike, the worse it gets too. Clever of Kevin to match his purple shirt to the gift wrap paper. David’s voice is chancing. I heard it crack a couple of times today. He’s only supposed to be turning 12 this next birthday (Dec 25/2002). That radio went around like a bad penny today didn’t it?
Overall, not bad. Loved the house sign story, actually felt sorry for Karen a bit, just for her being treated like dirt, not for her trying to brag in front of her old mates. Loved Janice’s reactions. Odd it being Les’s birthday and no sign of Toyah or even a polite Happy Birthday from Janice though. T’ra for now folks….
