Beautiful fall day today. I love the quality of the light at this time of year. It's so clear and bright! The leaves are turning and it's just beautiful.
Went to the nearby mall today to do some shopping. I treated myself to some MAC makeup (foundation and powder), some LUSH soap and shower gel, a new radio alarm clock. I got a frame for that painting for the other charity auction and a photo album for my Cape Breton prints. Picked up a Christmas pressie for
gramie_dee. Had lunch with Mom and got some groceries. Once home, I called Graham for a chat and later caught up on corrieblogging, prewriting and pre-posting some stuff. Now am ready for a cuppa and some oatmeal raisin cookies.
At lunch, Mom looked at me and exclaimed that she could see a gray hair on my head. One???? just the one??? i tipped my head down so she could see the forest of gray along my roots! She hadn't noticed grey on my head before. That's because i usually take care of business before it gets too noticeable :) I'm a bit slack this time around but that shall be rectified on Tuesday. I'll eventually let it all grow out but i don't know when. It'll be a shock when it does, though.
While i was shopping, this older man stopped and started to talk to me. He started off saying that nobody said "excuse me" anymore when trying to pass someone else and he talked about people not having manners. He then moved on to telling me he'd lost his lady friend last year and was now hoping to find someone else but every time he tells them his age (90 next year), they all tell him he's too old for them! Bless! He was pushing a walker on wheels and seemed to be getting around ok. He wittered on and on about this and that for about 15 minutes and i made conversation but eventually made polite excuses and wished him a good day. I"m sure the fellow spent his time walking around chatting to various people he passed. Sounds like he's probably a bit lonely, too. Nice man.
Also had a chat to Graham's dad on the phone as well. Now that man could talk for England! Graham has no telephone line this weekend. That means no internet either! Seems there were workmen up on the roof on Friday and very likely they knocked something out. He's told they should have it fixed no later than Monday. Since i won't be able to talk to him online, nor on the phone, i called him when i knew he'd be at his dad's. He's always there on Saturday night for a meal and some movies. His dad has had to give up the dog he got a few months ago. It's just growing too big and nearly pulled him off his feet the other day. He was only supposed to be a small dog but he's enormous and he's only 6 months old! Bill said when the dog lies on the settee, he takes up the whole of it when he stretches out. Stands about 2 feet high at the shoulder (the dog's shoulder, that is). Also sounds like the dog is or at least could given the chance, eating him out of house and home. Growing like a weed! He gave the dog to the brother of a woman that sometimes walks the dog for him, after quizzing him on how he would handle the dog. Making sure he's going to a good home. Already, he says, the pup seems to be settling in. He's still thinking of getting another dog but will get a small one from a shelter or rescue home, one that's already house trained. I expect that will be Korky V.
Thanksgiving dinner at Mum's tomorrow. Yommmmmm!!!!!!!!!!
