I've seen a few movies over the weekend. Friday night, Tracey and I went for a belated birthday outing. We had a quick bite at Wok Box and then to see Duplicity. That's Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. It's not exactly a love story, and is about corporate spying. There's more to their relationship than is initially realized and over the course of the movie, there are flashbacks to various points in time that tell you more about what's going on. Clive, of course, is lovely. Julia is looking a bit haggard these days but she's still a good actress and i liked them together.  We both liked the movie so it was a grand evening out :)

Yesterday i watched a downloaded copy of Slumdog Millionaire. It was quite good but i had read the book recently. Always a mistake to do that before seeing a movie. They changed a lot of the stories behind how he knew the answers to the questions and even changed the name of the main character and added a whole romantic sub plot through the whole story that wasn't really there in the book until at least half way through. And even then, they changed that somewhat too. I liked the book better but the movie wasn't bad. If you hadn't read the book i still think you might have a bit of trouble following it just a bit but it's pretty good.

Today i have Australia on. Man, talk about epic. It's pretty much two movies in one! The first half is similar to the old American westerns, with the cattle drive across the badlands, the Never Never in Northern Territory Australia in this case. The second half is very different though still a continuation of the story. It seems almost like maybe they should have made two movies out of it. I can't imagine sitting in the theatre for all this! It's 165 minutes, FFS! That's nearly 3 hours! I'll tell you what, though, it's the kind of story i'd love to read in a honking big book. Hugh Jackman is a good hero, i'm of two minds about Nicole Kidman. Sometimes i like her and sometimes i don't. The lad that played the little boy was really good though. I'd say the second half of the movie was actually more compelling than the first but i suppose you needed the first half to set it up for the rest.
