Been snowing most of today so far, though it looks like it's letting up a bit at the moment. Good day to go back to bed and read.
First book of the new year done and dusted.
1. The King's Daughter - Barbara Kyle (paper book)
I had read one of her books before and realized, once i'd started this one, that this was a sequel to the other i'd read only this one focuses on the daughter of the couple that was in the first book, Richard and Honor Thornleigh. The first one is called Queen's Lady and the King's Daughter this one refers to is Queen Mary I, though it's not really about her so much. It is about the new Catholic regime in England, and the rebels under Thomas Wyatt that Isabel Thornleigh believes in. Her father gets imprisoned and she recruits an escaped Spanish prisoner, Carlos Valverde, to help her find her father and spring him. It's mainly about their adventures with forays into the court of Mary and her lady in waiting, Francis Grenville who's engaged to Edward Sydenham. Edward was one of the heretics in the early book who doesn't want his secret to come out and he tries to have Richard Thornleigh killed as he knows the secret.
