Jun. 22nd, 2003 01:32 pmLine of the Day: Blanche “Do you like Greece? How about putting some chips in some and serving them up!” Steve to Vik “Quality time? Who'dyou think you are? Oprah?” Doreen “You and I, Ken, have standards” *sputter* Gail remembers her own reception rather smugly “Whatever happens they can’t take it away from us”…. I wonder if that memory’s going to be a double edged sword down the road… No I’m not picking Kirk’s “ORT” remark though it was good. I went for the road less traveled this time ;)
It was quite a good show overall. Great writing in the first half hour especially, with Harry’s “load of old cobblers” story, girl talk with Toyah and Fizz and even Alex coming back for Sally. I also loved Tommy finding Angela attractive even if she’s not a size 2. Refreshing.
You know if it wasn’t Sally and Kevin, I would have thought Alex coming back to try to sweep her off her feed dead romantic. I kept thinking Oh Sally he’s so cute and look at Kevin over there in his funny looking suit (or maybe it was just Kevin that was funny looking) how could you turn him down LOL. At least he did the right thing and broke it off with his fiancé with or without Sally by his side. Kevin really was clueless with Sally barely able to even smile over her children’s wedding present let alone showing any interest at all in the wedding and the girls noticed more than he did for the most part. D’you have a headache Sal? Yeah, I’m looking at him. She tells him about Alex minutes before the wedding and once he found out she hadn’t slept with Alex he became firmly entrenched in denial, piling on the guilt. So they marry, devotion in Kevin’s eyes and Sally looking numb. Did you notice that little black cloud over the registry office when they got married in the end?
Oh great, Norris the gossip machine has stirred it all up for the Nelson’s after the mugging. The Nelson’s can’t be wanted by the police or they wouldn’t continue to live on a street with a cop as a neighbour. If one of them has a record, so what? If they’ve done their time and are out, they shouldn’t be so skittish about the police and if it’s something like witness protection, then wouldn’t they feel better with police presence on the Street? And wouldn’t the local police, especially Emma, have been informed?
Vik is now drug running. It’s a little far to go just for a long weekend in Barbados isn’t it? And if he had to cut the drugs out of the suitcase, how did he get them in there and won’t Maria notice? Some good scenes with Vik and Steve but … if Vik called the debt collector to tell him there were two people going to Tenerife with him, why didn’t he just tell them the names over the phone instead of meeting him in a dark alley somewhere? Or text the information to the mobile if buddy was so thick he couldn’t spell Steven and Karen MacDonald. And does Peter know what kind of people he sells these debts to?
I laughed at Fiz’s idea of a belting night out. Anyone else surprised that Norris the hypochondriac makes sure the Kabin is well stocked with get well and sympathy cards? Thought not. And a doggy sympathy card as well LOL memories of Mr. Woo was it?
Toyah’s got a new boyfriend, expect we’ll meet him soon. Nice to see girl bonding with her and Fizz. There really is more to Fizz than she lets on and it’s nice to see it now and then. Does Sally not have a middle name? Kirk talking about the Underworld party, all them women and knickers made Roy visibly shudder! He really wants to go to Greece and all Hayley can do is think of the party but only Roy could study a book on conversation ice breakers for a party! LOL!. Karen’s got a great tan and she’s not even been on holiday yet. Makes Steve’s normally pale skin look even whiter! Isn’t it typical of Les to blame women’s hormones when Janice just couldn’t handle his lazy self?
So what’s on this week? Doesn’t sound like an exciting week ahead, just Vik’s next drug run. I think we’re in between major storylines at the moment now that Kevin and Sally got married. Audrey should be back soon as well.
Oh and Congratulations to Julie Hesmondhalgh… she and her fella Ian got married yesterday in Wales! I’ll bet little Martha looked a treat!
