I stopped in to Atlantic Photo after work and had a look at a digital camera that i just LOVE! It's the Canon A60. It's 2 mp. and they have one that's 3.2. It has movie with sound. It has a macro setting, better than most digital cameras. It can be taken off automatic and you can set the aperture and shutter speed! It has a place for an adapter that you can fit other lenses into. 3x optical 2.5 digital zoom. Has the "stitching" option, it also has some special effects i.e. you can take Black and White photos, also sepia tone i think he said. IT uses a compact flash card and has a video out cable and can show a "slideshow" of stored images on a tv.

It's $399 (Canadian) for the 2 mgp. Don't remember what the 3.2 was. I'm just looking at 2 mp as i am pretty sure i won't ever need to print anything larger than a 5x7 seeing as i very rarely ever blow anything up now to larger than that. Of course you need to buy a card ($90 for 128mb) and if i went for the battery charger kit with batteries they'll sell it for 40$ with the camera and a case will go for $20. With taxes that adds up to over $660 or so.... so that will not be something to be bought just yet. But when i ever decide to get one, that could very well be the model i go for.

All the owner reviews on that page seem pretty favourable. Maybe i should start a fund lol i keep thinkign... how far i can fly on $660 thought heh heh heh

One consolation is that the longer you wait, the less expensive it will be. My camera is half the price it was two years ago. I do recommend a battery charger though - it will pay for itself in no time at all. My camera uses AA, so I just got an Energizer AA recharger and some weird named AA rechargeable batteries which were less expensive than the one with the camera company's logo on them ;-) Same thing with a case - I got a GREAT one at a discount store here for half the price of the one in the camera store. You can also get cheaper compact flash cards if you shop around on the web. I got Tim a 512 mb compact flash card for $129US at Amazon.

Amazon.ca doesn't do electronics... i looked. But yes by the time i go to get a camera, if i'm still looking at 2 mp. ones they should have come down some more. The battery charger kit came with 4 AAAA as well as the recharger and was nearly half price if bought with the camera. Well i've got lots of time to look anyway. wonder if i could get one at the duty free next time i come back from the UK. THat's always a thought as well.

Sometimes my kids order stuff from Amazon US and send it to me and I send it on to them, so remember, I am here if you decide you need something from Amazon US :))
