Sunday Canadian Corrie Comments
Jul. 21st, 2002 10:37 amDidn't really want to do a line of the day since the one that really caught me was in dubious taste considering the subject matter... oh... go on then.... Peter re Duggie's "accident"... "What did he do? Trip over his own ego?" (may God forgive me!)
Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear. I guess Duggie cut one too many corners with cheap materials. It may have been a callous impulse to go rob Duggie but Richard sure thought enough to wear gloves first. Have you ever noticed when Richard gets a devious thought, like deciding not to call emergency or when he thought about using Sam as a sort of alibi, that he gets a tic in one eye? Well at least it's a bit more original than raising an evil eyebrow though he nearly does that too. Good job he doesn't have a moustache to twirl!! All that dust around a building site, wouldn't it show the extra footprints around where Duggie fell? Personally i had more tears on my cheek than Sunita and Shelly together though other that that, they both acted it out well. Two final "HUH??" observations.... 1. Why on earth did Richard transfer the money from one plastic bag to another when he had that big bad briefcase with him. Why didn't he put it in there in the first place? 2. So... Duggie dragged himself from one room to the next, and ended up in the exact same position on the floor AND closed the door behind him!!! Wonder if Gail will clue in to that eventually as well after Richard mentioned that the police said he dragged himself. Gail saw Richard open the door to the next room. Nah that would be too logical.
From death to the life of the party. Wasn't Blanche, to use her own words, Glorious??? LOL at all the plants they were given for gifts. and did you notice they all looked like the exact same type of plant, or at least the same type of leaves sticking up out of the wrapping! Poor Roy panicking over having to socialize at a party. I guess he didn't like the shirt any more than i did, covering it up with a zipped cardi and his anorak. Did you see those 4 inch white cuffs on it? I didn't think they made those anymore. Hayley must have got it in a charity shop or 70's retro place! Hayley's butterfly clip was cute but it kept disappearing. Roy sure can cut a rug though :) Brilliant come back to Steve's winding him up about having a "spliff"! I kept wondering why sometimes guests were let in the door personally and other times buzzed in. Steve and Vik arrived with half the contents of the off license each. Now THOSE are the kinds of party guests you like to invite!
Sam really showed up his cluelessness listening to Les for advice on women. The others trying to re-match them only added to it. He seemed to have enough instincts to let it be on his own. And I for one think Toyah really is strong enough to make the decision about the right/wrong man now. Unfortunately for Sam, he *was* the right man for her at the time.
Nice stuff between Karen and Rita. Poor Steve is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't but she seemed to get over it. She's quite good at saving face isn't she? LOL! Rita's sarcastic remarks about her "bad turn" were funny too. Deirdre never married anyone her own age! former fiance Billy Walker is older than Ken by a year, Ray had at least 10 years on her (she was 19 engaged to Billy and about 21 when she married Ray who had been in the show for 10 years on and off!) and Ken of course is more than 15 years older. Samir was much younger. Jon Lindsay as Blanche said was the "man who never was". I thought the corner shop closed at 8 p.m. yet when Audrey went for headache tablets, the flatwarming party had been going on for a long time and Eve had been complaining about the lack of customers all evening! Ok, so it gets dark early in Manchester in February but is that any reason to start the party at 4:30 p.m.? David asked Gail for 20 pounds for a school trip then asked
Richard for 25! It would have been funnier if Gail had not been standing right there and heard it and said nothing about her embezzling little offspring. Forget the Personality transplant fairy, Tyrone's transplant was rejected!
Oh yeah, and one more thing. Peter's lost enough people close to him, (mother, sister, grandparents who raised him) you would think he would know what Shelly needed even if he found it hard to find the right words.
