From the union information release:
Voting ended last night on HRM's last proposal to its employees in NSUPE Local 13. The membership has spoken and by a vote of 73%, approved the changes offered. The NSUPE Local 13 Executive and Negotiating Committee want to thank all of those who offered advice and assistance during this difficult process and especially wants to thank those who exercised their democratic right to vote.
While the vote was clearly in favour, not all members are happy. One overheard comment was "I had to hold my nose when I voted for that". Of particular concern were the vicious wage roll backs HRM has proposed for 44 of our members, the removal of the old Dartmouth retirement plan for those from that former city, the hours of work and HRM’s reluctance to recognize employees' long service as a value to the municipality. Some committee members felt HRM's tactics of stalling negotiations, dirty bargaining tricks and misleading statements about the Union may have disheartened some members into voting for the package.
You can imagine how relieved i am to know we won't be in danger of going on strike!

It got a bit messy last night. It's clear, sunny and chilly today. Go figure.
Had dinner at my parents' last night, my cousin Gayle and her husband Peter are visiting for a couple of days so they were there as were my aunt and uncle so we had a nice visit. My cousin currently lives in Ontario but has lived in Newfoundland for quite a few years before that so i've only seen her on a couple of visits there and sometimes when she's been home.
Dad and I are shopping and lunching today. Hoping to go to the Clay Cafe to replace that mug since the gal gave me a cheque to cover it yesterday. Then the get together this evening.
