The morning after
Dec. 14th, 2002 10:51 am*sigh* slightly hungover but happy at the end of a long and varied week that included being called a goddess, being called badness lol, worry over the contract (no fingernails left !) and then the relief of it being accepted. Last evening was a reunion of sorts for former City of Halifax workers and it was brilliant to see quite a few faces from the past. Lots of hugs, lots of laughs, lots of beers! Indiscriminate but hopefully not indiscreet photos were taken. Even saw a couple of former city managers (i.e. CEO equivalent) that came for a few drinks, one of whom was always such a nice nice man and really cared about the employees. He had a huge bust up with Council and got his ass fired and he told me his main regret was that he never was able to finish what he started. He always believed the employees should have more say in how things were run and would therefore be happier to work there. He never believed in the autocratic way of making and imposing decisions from the throne room. I forget what happened, what the big disagreement was that got him fired. I must see if i can find someone that remembers.
Was also told that we can take a half day next week to do Christmas shopping, etc. as long as we make sure we don't all go the same time, need to make sure everything is covered. My friend and i do our annual Christmas gift exchange at lunch and she's off next week so we'll sort out a day and have a nice long lunch :)
