Nov. 6th, 2003 03:54 pmAnother sunny but cold day today though th ebreeze not as evident. We explored some of the wonderful shops in the village of Qualicum beach, not far from Kazza and Don in Parksville. QB does not allow any franchise store so they're all locally owned and run. The only name you will recognize aside from a couple of banks, the one gas station (petro can) is the Pharmasave. They were all there before the bylaw was passed. We saw a few bookstores and checked out one called Mulberry Bush, a chocolate store, and several very cool gift stores, one that featured folk art as well as furniture, jewellry, garden pots and accessories and many other imaginative odds and sods. Ange you would have gone nuts in here! I think i took a baker's dozen or more photos!
We had lunch in a nice cafe called Lefty's that swears to serving only fresh and healthy food, no deep fat fryer on the premises but delicious roasted spiced Southpawtatoes (in keeping with the left handed theme, even the menu opened in reverse!)
Karen is having her own birthday party tonight so looking forward to that...
