Friendly Neighbours
Jan. 30th, 2005 12:32 pmI noticed a note slid under my door about mid morning. It was from my next door neighbour in the building. She was having trouble hooking up her new dvd player and wondered if i could help later today. She doesn't have my phone number i guess though we do chat in the hall or on the bus etc. She's lived in this building longer than i have and i've been here since 89. Anyway, next thing i hear another note slid under, she's having the superintendant's son come over later. At this point, she didn't know if i was up or not so i guess that's why she didn't knock. I rang her (she'd given her number on the first note) and mentioned that when i got my dvd player i had to use the remote that went with the tv to switch to the video setting, not the same function on the universal remote i have. She didn't have a button with the same label but similar vcr-1, vcr-2 etc. so i said to try those. I know Mom has to press some similar type of button on her tv remote several times to get the dvd to be visible. It's something they don't really mention in the instructions or manual.
So there's a third note under my door. "IT'S WORKING!" lol even though she now has my phone number. *chuckle* I told her i had lots of movies she could borrow but i don't know if she'll actually knock on my door and ask. I'll have to call her up and invite her over to choose one i think. Especially if it's on one of those stormy days that you can't go out anyway.

gramie_deewill attest, i've been moaning and picking his brains for 2 weeks trying to work out how to do reflections. It's coming. But it still doesn't look right in my view but it might have to do for now. No photos yet as it's not done and there's still more reflection to do with another boat that needs painting in. My reflections sort of look ghosty and smudgy at the moment. Of course the only way i seem to be able to do water is have it look still and deep and filled with different colours and shades. Water doesn't seem to want to go "ripply" or have much movement for me yet. It's probably too blue for the way it should look. I know, i know i'm far too critical of my own work. Aren't we all?
