I'm a bit surprised that GBW hasn't renamed the day "Freedom" day instead of Independence Day. Oh ok, that was a bit cynical wasn't it? Actually i think it's great that America has a date they keep as a national holiday to celebrate their nation's 'birth'. We have one too, here in Canada and a lot of other countries do as well, even if the country wasn't 'born', they seem to pick a day to celebrate something of significance. There are a lot of countries that have a national holiday but the United Kingdom doesn't. Odd isn't it? What date would be a good one to use as a national holiday? There are lots of dates that might be used, what about the date the Act of Union was signed in 1707 which took place March 26? There was another one in 1801 to bring in Ireland but that was January 1 and that's already New Year's Day. You'd want something that applies to the whole country not just something like St. George's Day which is for England. You want a date that doesn't change, not something like the third Thursday of the month with two full moons in it or some other nonsense. "UK Day" has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
Yeah, i know. It's not even my country is it lol But even little territories and principalities like San Marino, Monaco, Andorra ... and according to This article Wales is a principality too but they don't have a national holiday of their own.
Well, all that aside, happy Fourth to those celebrating it!
My dad's cousin's funeral is Wednesday but as i don't think i can get time off for it, i think i'll go to the funeral home tomorrow night. It's right on a bus line so not difficult to get to. Aieee... need to get a card too.
Got a massage booked for 4 today. My neck and shoulders are really tight so i need that all worked out. Had an adjustment this morning so i can already feel a little difference.
