Info for travelers to the US
Aug. 10th, 2005 08:18 amAs of October 4, according to the Air Canada website, travelers by air, at least, will need a passport to fly into the US. But also on the same site is this:
8. If am travelling without a passport – can I still enter the USA?
Until December 31, 2006 there will be no change in the document requirements for travel solely between Canada and the United States, so certain documents other than passports will continue to be valid for Canadian and US citizens. Air Canada strongly recommends customers travel with passports for all international journeys, including those between Canada and the United States.
So if you're Canadian, i'm not sure if you need a passport or not. It's recommended and after Dec. 31, 2006 Canadians *will* need one. The real pisser is that a Canadian passport costs $87 plus the picture costs and it's only good for 5 years.
