May. 12th, 2014 07:57 amIt was nice having Mom's car over the weekend. It was also a pricey weekend! I got my hair done Saturday, foils, highlights and cut/colour. Then got new sneakers because I suspect my old ones need replacing. My feet have been bothering me more than usual, including my ankles and that's a sure sign. Unfortunately I can only get a certain type that work the best with my orthotics and they happen to be expensive. Since i wear them nearly all the time, i end up replacing them once a year. I also filled up Mom's gas tank which i like to do if i'm having the car for any length of time and yesterday spent over 100 on groceries.
Went to a birthday party on Saturday evening which was nice. Not as many family members there as i thought there might be but it was nice catching up with the ones that were there.
I have a doctor's appt. tonight which i made for this week knowing I'd have the car. It's a nuisance otherwise because you're so much at the mercy of the bus schedule. My doctor is always running late, 30 - 45 minutes usually and you have to time the bus or there's a 30 minute wait there. At least with a car i can be home 10 minutes after i leave instead of the better part of an hour.
Nothing much else on this week, though, and Mom will be home by the weekend. She'll be in Bermuda now.
I've never been tempted by vacations on an island, beach or pool really. I never was one to spend endless days on the beach, even when i was in my teens and 20s. I'd like a day here and there and I suppose we did go more frequently as teens altogether but a week or two on a resort just doesn't appeal. I know there's other things to do in the area and some are located near historic stuff but it's also hot. I don't really do hot very well. I don't do water sports other than a bit of swimming and that's really only enough to cool down. No. give me a damp, cool, crumbling castle or a neighbourhood of cobblestone streets, a dark cathedral or a museum. Road trips in a nice countryside. Those I can do.
