We have a big buffet here at work on Friday for the Halloween party. I am going to make egg sandwiches (chopped egg, mayo, salt and pepper, on white bread and on whole wheat). I LOVE egg sandwiches but i hardly ever make them. They are a MUST for wedding and baby showers, and any other kind of pot luck spread. My mom always puts in a little dollop of mustard to give them colour and a bit of zip and it's reallllllly good. I love chopped up onion in them too. Just for fun...

And while we're on the subject of food, it's lunchtime and i've brought a Lean Cuisine "Ginger Garlic Steak" with noodles. Never tried this one before but it sounded good. Also picked up some Dare "Vinta" crackers in the Dollar store! which are my new favourite crackers. They're a multi grain type and are very yummy. I am very pleased as they are nearly twice the price in the grocery store. They also have Terry's Raspberry Chocolate "orange" there too so that would be a dollar as well. Possibly 2 but there was no sign saying otherwise. Must.... resist.....chocolate............

's funny, I hate buying "food" at the Dollar Store.

I had a "plop" burger for lunch. It's a cheeseburger, on a bed of lettuce, onion, tomato, NO BREAD. The reason it's called a "plop" burger is because once when she was making it for me, she had it all done, and as she was lifting it from the grill to bring over to the plate, it plopped, fell to the floor. And she had to start over. From them on, she makes me "plop" burgers.

I don't mind things like crackers or spices though as far as "food" goes, they don't usually have anything i like anyway so i was tickled to see shelves of the Vinta crackers.

So she drops a burger for you every time? lolol ;)

LOL - no just that one time and it's been called that every since LOL. I don't think I've ever had VINTA crackers...

Have to admit, I don't ever buy food from the dollar store, either. Candy maybe - for the kids, but not "real" food. My stomach is too sensitive, and I figure it's in the dollar store for a reason - whether it's outdated, or something went wrong with that batch, or whatever. Not worth the risk for me. Besides, I'm a freshness fanatic!

LOL - me too. I always think that the dollar store carries outdated itmes - otherwise why else would they be only a buck LOL.

What dollar store do you shop at? Cause I'd be interested in taking a gander at the crackers...

The one in Scotia Square. I had some over lunch and they tasted just fine and fresh to me. (And Terry's Raspberry!)

I have to tell you..of all the dollar stores I have been in..the one in Scotia Square is the BEST..I find their variety of anything and everything is awesome..and the quality is pretty damn good.
When I get in there for one thing..I always go through the store and get a ton of things..and keep thinking it is really gonna cost me..but it doesn't. I am really happy with that store..never checked out the 'food' but it has great screwdrivers and tools and god..just about everything..for me..it is convenient too...cuase I work there..but it is one of the best ones..in my opinion.

How about chives instead of onions? It would avoid unpleasant cases of dragon breath and not offend the onionly-challenged.

I love egg sandwiches :D Once when I was doing lunch duty at school, a little kid was silently weeping over his sandwich. I asked him why he was crying and he said there was too much sand in his sandwich. I took a closer look and saw it was egg salad with rather coarse grains of pepper LOL.

Going to hardboil some eggs now :D

But don't you find that they're always BEST when someone else makes them ??

Like "deviled eggs" - I love them too !

I think minced green onion would be nice in an egg salad sanwich. I find regular onion too strong. I love devilled eggs with a but of curry. mmm.
