Going out to dinner after work with a coworker. We do this a few times over a year, usually when i have been on a trip and she wants to see the photos. Didn't think she was at work today though. When i went over this morning her computer was turned off but she's here and we're going and we're going to try Thai food. We're both Thai virgins so this will be an experience. (Ohh, that didn't come out quite the way i meant it lol) Hopefully we'll get a waiter/waitress that knows their stuff and can suggest some things we might like. I think the place we're going is just a small place (Blowers Street for anyone that knows Halifax).

Java continues to frustrate. No more whining, i'm just sayin'.

I really need to get back to the gym. I shall go this weekend. Really. I also need to pick up some groceries.

We went to Baan Thai and the food was excellent though it was very expensive. Was Thai Chin reasonable? I'm thinking it would be by the Uni.

It's actually near the Westin end of South. Across from the park/Superstore.

I don't remember how much it was but there's a coupon in the Entertainment book for it.

I just checked online and the prices are say between $12 and $16 for a dish. The coupon is for up to $15.

See 12 and 16 for one dish is scandalous compared to chinese restauarants. Is this normal?? I know where you mean.

I see. Well, I guess it depends on what kind of chinese food - have you tried Cheelin? I can't remember exactly, but I think their prices are a little higher - and the food is wicked.

Honestly, I think the amount of work that goes into thai food and the flavours MMMMM I never had anything so exquisite. I really did love it. Maybe it depends on what you order too.

For example there's a cheap thai place in Park Lane food court that's very authentic and good and cheap, but the food isn't as fancy - like I mean I had all kinds of flavours going on in my mouth that I didn't think possible.

I also heard about a place called Thai Chili House on Blowers. Never been, but heard it was good.

We couldn't find Thai Chili, that's where we were headed but didn't see any restaurant above or below ground with the sign. Could have missed it though.

ooo also with the entertainment book (online) they tell you that by showing your fancy schmancy entertainment book card you can get 20% off (over $25) unlimited number of times... *drool*

I must say (see one of my lj entries dated for around November...it burns on the way out too. yowza.

Yes, I second the Pad Thai !!!!
I think it's just about my favorite so far.
The Thai curries are nice too, different from Indian curries - a lovely harmony of textures and tastes.

the thai curries are often made with coconut milk too. Oh so good. It's making me hungry too, and I haven't made supper.

I have a recipe for Pad Thai that I make fairly often - it's from a low fat cookbook, but it is quite tasty nevertheless :))

I've only had Thai food once and it was 'orrid. I hope it was just a bad restauraunt and *not* a typical example of Thai food lol. I mean really... wet soggy slushy rice? Blechh. Give me Cantonese. :)

The rice was properly steamed and the food was gorgeous! Will post about it later :)
