I did watch a bit of the Oscar awards last night but i never do make it until the end. Am glad to hear that Philip Seymour Hoffman won for Capote though i haven't seen it yet. As expected, Reese Witherspoon won for Walk the Line though i think Felicity Huffman's performance in Transamerica was stunning. Crash won best picture. I've seen a bit of it as it was on the Movie Channel. I shall have to pay more attention to it and watch it all the way through next time i catch it.

Dresses... Everyone disses the dresses. Most were pretty nice i thought and for a change, most of the women had their hair done up instead of just hanging there. Helena Bonham Carter's hair was a bit too done up for her tiny face, though and the dress that Naomi Watts was a bit too fluffy for me. One interviewer on the red carpet asked her if it was vintage. My guess is because it looked like old kleenex dragged out of the back of the closet. It had this really fluffy stuff on the top half. I dunno. Some other woman, Jessica Alba i think , had a yellow monstrosity on and jada Pinket Smith looked good but her hair was too severe. Some nice dresses on Rachel Weisz, Queen Latifah, Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman. Oscar.com has a red carpet fashion run through so you can see many of them. Is too much attention paid to these award shows? Yeah maybe. I'll tell you something else, Jon Stewart was awful!! I thought he'd be quite good but he was the worst one i've ever seen. Not. Funny. And Ben Stiller did some stupid routine in a green outfit that was dumb as well. Best award? Best animated film to Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit! :)))

Edited for more fashion dish: Reese Witherspoon's dress was lovely and so was Felicity Huffman's. I really liked hers. Charlieze Theron's was lovely and unusual though i'm not too sure about that big bow on her shoulder. I have to say though, Keira Knightly's dress was pretty but she had on far too much makeup for someone so young and her hair? Please! Pony tail with some strands around her face. That's it. Probably took about 20 seconds to do her hair. I wondered if she'd pulled her hair back to do her makeup and then forgot about it. The chick with the yellow ugly dress was Michelle Williams from Brokeback, btw.

OH yeah, and did you see Lauren Bacall's performance? She seemed unsteady walking out and had a lot of trouble reading the teleprompter. She's getting older so i hope it's just that, not that she was drinking or anything.

I was actually rooting for Reese - I normally can't stand her, but walked out of WtL in love with her character despite myself, which says good acting to me.

I didn't see the movie so i can't really judge. I think from what clips i've seen though that she did do a very good job, they both did.

That's funny that you thought Jon Stewart was awful....Mike thought he was fantastic. I must admit, for the little we did watch, he had me laughing.

Oh, but yeah, Ben Stiller...that was terrible. And the other terrible thing was that bow on Charlize Theron's shoulder.

I've seen Jon's show once or twice and he was really funny so i was surprised. A lot of the time he seemed to be shouting and making an awful lot of noise. Some of his lines were good but a lot of his jokes i thought fell pretty flat and hard, even the audience barely twittered. I didn't see the show all the way through so maybe he found his feet later on.

Well maybe the reason we actually thought he was good is because neither of us had ever seen his show...I heard his show is MUCH funnier than he was at the Oscars! And we didnt' watch the whole thing either, so I don't know if he got better or worse.

Poor Helena, she's always getting picked on lol. I rather like her, although she *did* look suspiciously like Micheal Jackson in the remake of Planet Of The Apes.
