There was a peace march Halifax (Canada) today to coincide with others going on across the country and in the world but i didnt' know when it was and besides, it was still -30 ish so i don't know what the turnout will have been. I'm sure it will be in the paper tomorrow though there was no mention of it in today's as to when and where. I don't like that about the daily paper i take but it's a tabloid sized and easier to read rather htan the oversized other daily. Anyway on a bus later i saw a woman that had a cardboard dove on a stick and she had been at it apparently. This was about 2:30ish. I wasn't talking to her so i don't know how it went.

In the mall there were a lot of teenagers, more than usual it seemed. AT one court there was some sort of thing going on, i didn't fight my way through the crowd to see exactly what but there was rap music and other music and the kids were hooting and cheering. The hair stylist said they were breakdancing.... BREAK DANCING??? Yes it's coming back again! Some of the music was revamped stuff from the 60's and 70's, stuff that was a hit before these kids were even born!

*shakes head and feels like an old fogey*

My anti-war effort consists of buying French and German goods. :)

We had a march here too on saturday. The proposed invasion of Iraq is not a popular thing in the U.S. I'm thinking that, if dubya goes ahead with his attack, he will have the 60's all over again in spades. Vietnam revisited.
So sad that he made a promise to get Bin Laden, and when he couldn't fulfill that promise, he changed to an easier mark. This whole thing is about oil, and not about terrorism. The other day it was said that Saddam was going to blow his oil fields, if attacked. The US promptly issued a statement that they would try to sabotage those efforts and send in oil rig firefighters, when it was safe. So sad.

I have been thinking that all along. Whatever happened to the Bin Laden thing? He hasn't been able to find him so has tried to focus the people's attention elsewhere. Of course it's about oil and everyone knows it. Yes if he goes in guns blazing, especially if he does it without the UN then he's going to have an even worse than Vietnam back lash on his hands. I can't fault him for going after Bin Laden and bombing the crap out of AFghanistan mind you, but he had no business going after Iraq. I notice he's making noises about North Korea but since they already have nukes he's not being very aggressive there. They have the means to fight back. Iraq may or may not. So far it doesn't look like it but as one pundit put it, even if they have chemicals, they don't have the equipment to deliver it to the US.
