Well that was an exercise in annoyance.
I thought, it being the one and only nice day this week, that i would wander the waterfront to watch some of the Buskers. I guess i just picked the wrong time or day. Basically all i saw was dozens of vendor booths, thousands of people, a small handful of performers that spent more time setting up or fucking around making jokes with the crowd or begging for bucks than i did actually seeing them do anything. I don't even know if i'll bother uploading the few pictures i managed to take from the back of hundreds of people surrounding the "stages". And i got to the area where my favourite band sets up to see them.... finished their set. Not on for another hour and a half by which time i was fed up. When this started 20 years ago, The waterfront was covered with Busker acts. You could walk from the Casino to and including Bishop's Landing and see a good dozen acts or more. Now there are four or five main "stages" and another area where some musical acts may set up. The rest is vendors selling all sorts of things and one wharf that has kid stuff like a bouncy castle and a pillar that is set up like a rock climbing wall.

In the end, i came back to Scotia Square where i work, went up to the office since i remembered i'd left my mobile on my desk and took the bus home.

I've given up on the Buskers and haven't bothered this year. There are too many people, squished in like sardines around too few performers in too little space. Not my idea of fun. And if you do manage to see 25% of the show even they are guilting you into putting $20 in a hat. "Was I worth a night at the movies?" The answer is maybe...if I'd seen the whole show, in a comfy chair, with snacks"

I agree. I hate it when they basically shame you into giving and suggest how much you should give. If i like the show i'll gladly throw in a couple of bucks but not if you guilt me into it. I was basically looking for a photo op but i couldn't get close enough and all the ones i saw were all doing mostly the same things. I wish i'd seen Oka though, they're very good and although mention that they would appreciate any donations, they don't make an issue out of it.

I saw Oka the other day. They have a new CD out (well new last year Half Lazy Half Crazy). I have it on me. Missed some of their set but they are doing them in two song increments so it appears. Two songs (long songs) and off 10-15 then back on. Hopefully going down on Friday night. But the other acts, eh, I felt the same way as you.

Anything good on the new one? my favourite is "Music Makes Me Happy" from the one they put out last time they were here.

I haven't made it down this year yet (life is insane!) but I may try to pop down at some point to pick up Oka's new CD. I have three of their previous plus two from Rivertribe (part of the band before Oka).
