If i get a seat on the bus, which is most mornings, i like to read. That means my head is down and i'm zoned out for most of the way to work. This morning i closed my book a few blocks before arrival, and looked up to see a really pretty sunrise over the harbour. The lights outlining the domes of the casino were still on and across the water, the dark spiky towers of the refinery in the Eastern Passage were still lit up with twinkling lights, silhouetted against the brightening orange-red streaky sky behind it. I wonder how many of these i miss with my head in my book? By the time you get into the downtown core, the buildings obscure the waterfront and the sun rises so quickly that by the time i get in and up to the office, the spectacular colours have faded and the sky is full on light. Winter is the only time i really get to see the sunrises because in summer, the sun is up too early, well before my 7 o'clock bus.

This photo is from a few years ago when there was a massive crane in the harbour. They use it for industrial things, salvage, that sort of stuff. It gives you an idea of what i saw this morning though the sky was a bit pinker and cloudless when i came in today.
