Aug. 23rd, 2002 11:29 amI don't have to work today, yay. It's sunny but i have a mountain of laundry to get through before i think of going to pick up a few fruit and veg. It's finally corn on the cob season! The guy i bought my pc from, i work with him, he's bringing over 64 memory and a windows 98 cd after he gets off work to juice up this aging puter (s'got 64 now, first generation pentium, 200mhz). I couldnt' get the memory anywhere else as my baby is 4 years old and obsolete! IT still does all i need it to, and with cable internet the speed of surfing etc is fine for my needs so i'll nurse it along a bit longer though i think a new printer is probably in the offing.
Might try to go to the movie Possession this weekend. It's based on an A.S. Byatt book which i did read a few years ago. Long enough ago so that inconsistencies between book and movie won't make a dent. It's had decent reviews even if it has Gwynneth Paltrow in yet another role with an English Accent. I can take her or leave her and just never believe her as a Brit but she's ok. Right off the top they've changed the male lead from an Englishman to an American. The book has an underlying theme of class differences so the screenwriter changed the contrast to American/English. Could work i suppose. The basic plot is about two literary analysts that discover an affair between two Victorian poets through their love letters. Not sure if it is a dual story, showing the love affair as a flash back or not. Stay tuned for a movie review over the weekend.
Saw a local review of Big Fat Greek WEdding today and if you will recall, i wasn't overly impressed. The reviewer hit my feelings spot on. She called it "sitcom like" and full of cliches. I read it and thought THAT'S IT! Cliche! It had a few good moments but as the reviewer noted, the director didn't follow through as he should have and they fell flat.
