Remote Control hell
Sep. 22nd, 2002 05:04 pmSo i broke down and bought a dvd player yesterday. It was cheap, and basic but it does play cd's and mp3's along with the movies and does basically all i need it to do. I tried to set it up and wasn't getting any menus or anything so i called the shop where i bought it. While i was holding i discovered what was wrong. I had found the remote for the tv and pressed a few buttons and hit the tv/video button and voila! There it was! See, i use a universal remote that came with the digital cable box for the tv and the cable box and sometimes for the vcr. Still need the vcr remote for programming or searching. Now i also need the tv remote for the tv/video button that isn't on the universal remote. And i have the remote for the dvd player. Argh!
Well anyway i was talking to my sister today who'd dead chuffed cause now she can get me a dvd for Christmas and they belong to Columbia House dvd club where you get the first four for 49 cents plus 2$ shipping and handling. Then you buy 4 over 2 years for about 25 dollars per plus taxes etc. so about 30 by the time you're done, that's about £13 or $20 USD. Not bad. I will get a few of my favourites and i can buy Christmas pressies for my nephews as well. They have sales occaisionally too. Anyway i ordered them online... 1. Almost Famous 2. Blade Runner 3. Fifth Element (can't help it, i shouldn't like this movie, but i do :))) 4. Rocky Horror Picture Show and 5. Alien (20th anniversary special) A mix but all movies i like. The fifth one i get for 19.95 a bit cheaper than regular prices then i only have to buy 3 more.

Sep. 22nd, 2002 05:11 pm................oh and my pal Annie is going to send me the secret code for my model to make it accept multi region dvd/s and vcd's. Gotta figure out how to make one of them. Where do you go to download movies? or should i not be admitting that here? LOL!
