Early reflections on this year past

liz_lowlife in this brief posting that got me thinking... i was going to respond on her LJ but it seemed like a good subject for an entry....
All the stuff that's happened just this year...
Travels: Manchester, Ireland, Toronto, Peterborough (Ont.), Amherst and Truro (N.S.)
Movies and plays: not as many as last year but enjoyed the ones i did see, Midsummer Night's Dream at Manchester Royal Exchange theatre particularly imaginative staging and much enjoyed.
Books: read lots, filled up a couple of boxes and still have a stack to read.
Friends: Never a complete write off is the year in which i make at least one new friend even in a bad year which this one, overall was not. I was lured onto LJ this year so Voila! New friends! And i've made a few new pals in irc and have met a few face to face that i haven't met previously, one as recent as this past weekend. Even better! A couple of friends have had tough years, relationships tanking, marraiges gone bust, one miscarraige but they all seem to have struggled back onto their feet and are looking forward.
Family: All healthy and ok, My sister had a rough one but she's coming along fine thanks.
Health: Had a lot of back problems but the chiropractor and massage therapist are doing their magic.
Work: Successful year at work mainly. People pleased with results and saying so to People Who Matter. Always a plus. Now if they would just settle our contract i might even get a little pay rise.
I don't make New Year's Resolutions, i just promise myself to try something new. Or go someplace new. This year i went to Ireland. Learned some new software for work (ok, not voluntary something new, but new just the same) and tried out Live Journal. Other new things i've done or tried in the past were pottery painting, Italian lessons, Tai Chi, and getting my website up and online. Who knows what the next year will bring! :)
