To Computer Hell and back

I was so frustrated last night, i was in tears with this damn computer. I had to get a new cd writer so i brought that home and put it in. Didn't work. Oh ... have a look now, something else needs plugging in. Did that and rebooted. Nope. Didn't work. Hmm Maybe i need an updated driver so i downloaded that and tried installing it. It got errors and after that not only did the cd not work but the computer didn't recognize the dvd rom either. shit. I tried restoring the system to a couple of weeks ago in case the driver screwed up something but no dice. argghgghghghgh

Today i went over to Joe who is the guy at work that i bought the puter from and he told me about some jumper thingo on the back that was set to "master" which was conflicting with the dvd rom which was also set to Master. I needed to shift this little piece of plastic to the posts that make it a "slave" (don't ask, i couldnt' explain it). Anyway, i went to the gym after work and walked a half hour on the treadmill but i didn't want to do the rest of the workout as i was too anxious to get home and sort out the cd burner. Struggled to unhook the damn thing and check. Yep, it was set to the wrong thing. Changed it, reinstalled it, booted up.
