Holy Hannah! I knew it was cold outside because the wood in the balcony outside was making cracking sounds. Apparently it's -20 with a windchill of -31!!!!! Sheeeeeesh! Stay warm everyone!

I did have a nice time at the happy hour TGIFriday's yesterday. Had a Volcano (fruit juice with a kick), a Margarita, and a spicy Caesar. Mmmmm...... We stayed until about 6:30 but that was plenty. The drinks were HUGE, probably over 16 ounces of liquid in each plus ice or slush.

Did i mention how freakin' cold it is today? It's still cold and it is hard to believe it's going to warm up enough to snow but the blizzard warning is still in effect.

[livejournal.com profile] sammantha and i saw Phantom of the Opera this afternoon. Wow. Just Wow. I'll have to agree though with some others i've heard who were a tad disappointed in the inability of the two lead actors (Christine and the Viscount) to show any emotion whatsoever. I am not sure whether it was wooden acting (well i think it was on his part) or the way they were directed. Sometimes you could hardly see their mouths move while singing a supposedly emotional song and though i "got" why Christine kept being mesmerized by the Phantom, i kinda wished her face would have shown a bit more change. But the Phantom, Gerard Butler, was really good and kept drawing me in and so was Minnie Driver as the Diva. She was very funny and very good with the Italian accent. Ciaran Hinds seemed really out of place as one of the buffoonish owners. Having said that, the costumes, sets and music whirling and crashing around us was fabulous and we both had an emotional moment near the end. It takes a little getting used to having them singing most of the lines they would normally speak but that wouldn't seem as odd on stage as it did on film. I'm just not used to that. We saw the movie in a proper movie house, the last one in Halifax and we sat in the balcony :) Very cool! We both enjoyed it though, very entertaining and the cinematography was stunning especially the cemetery scenes.

I never saw the stage production but now i would like to very much. Maybe next time in London if it's still on...
