Apr. 2nd, 2005 06:23 pmThe Pope has died. Let the eulogies, memories and commemorative coffee mugs hit the streets. R.I.P. Did i ever tell you i was blessed by the Pope? 1996, a trip to Rome, a group of us went to St. Peter's Square and waited for an hour and a half and he came to his window, made a speech in 5 or 6 languages and blessed the multitudes. It was kind of neat really.
It started out kind of nice out this morning but it's dreary, cold and windy now. I went to Pete's Frootique in Halifax this afternoon. Had a nice lunch. There's a good lunch bar there and a hot carvery sandwich section. If you want ham, beef, pork or chicken, it's the real thing they slice up for you, not deli processed stuff. They also have roasted veggie and four cheese panninis and really, REALLY good soups. I had some potato leek and it was mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Then i proceeded to spend far too much on the wonderful stuff at Pete's, he's got the best selection of fruit and veg and groceries evah! Also has lots of exotic stuff you don't see anywhere else and i like to try at least one thing i've never had before. Today's purchase was a somewhat spiny cactus pear and a couple of "pink lady" apples. I spent lots of money on fresh fruit, cheeses and er.. chocolate. :) Green and Blacks!! Real UK Cadbury's!! That and some odds and ends including a loaf of home made multi grain bread from the bakery cost me... *koffkoff* too much.
Ran into a friend from work so we had a cuppa in a cafe. I'd also stopped into a magazine store earlier and bought a history magazine and a painting magazine. I looked around in Maritime Frame It at all the prints and lovely cards, trying to get inspiration for painting. All my paintings are from photos and i marvel at the ideas and styles that people come up with out of their heads so i've been rolling some ideas around in my head. God knows what or if they will come out on canvas in any shape or form. Watch this space....
Watched "Go Ask Alice" this morning. It's very short so i suspect it was a made-for-tv movie pumped up with ads originally. It was... ok. It was narrated a lot by Alice as she read from or wrote in her diary. I think it was meant to be a deterrent to kids to show them the evils of drugs. By God didn't we wear ugly clothes in the early 70's?
