tvordlj: (Birds on a wire)
Mom's freezer is already starting to fill up. People have brought food over for two days running :) A couple different soups in particular which is really good because Dad likes homemade soup and he'll eat some of it. One aunt sent over a cream broccoli soup today and man oh man was it good, very rich and tasty. She's sending over some more homemade bread tomorrow and i just remembered i forgot to slice up the rest of the loaf that was there. I sliced one piece nice and thin for Dad's breakfast toast. He finds thin is easier for him to eat and Mom tends to mangle bread when she tries to slice it ;) /ducks I took the bus back to my apartment but i walked to the nearby terminal as it wasn't raining and it was warm and very foggy. Back to work tomorrow.

I also scored a dvd set from ebay. It wasn't a bidding war, just a "buy it now" but i got a good price and more importantly a good shipping rate to Canada. It's the Coronation Street 10 disc set for the 1970's that i got for a total of $140 CA. it was £58 plus £7 for shipping which is far more reasonable than 14-18 pounds most sites want to ship to North America from the UK. There was a set on Play.com for 44.99 but i couldn't register a credit card that wasn't outside the EU. Bummer. I could have had it sent to [livejournal.com profile] gramie_dee's address and picked it up next time i'm over, which won't be over New Year, btw (for obvious reasons).

And i want to thank you all for your kind and supportive emails over the last couple of days. It means an awful lot. I'm doing ok now mostly. Am thinking i will probably rent a car for a month or two which will make things easier to get around without relying on other people. I'll start calling around for that soon too. I have to start the process for the cancellation insurance for my plane ticket as well so i will call the travel agent and she can help me sort things out. I have already sorted out the hotel reservations and emailed the travel agent for a heads up. You know what insurance forms are like, i may need her assistance there too lol!

God DAMN i just got a bounce message back from the travel agent. You know what? *every* single travel agent i ever used moved out of the office either changing branches or quitting altogether within a few months and it looks like this one did too in spite of her telling me back when i was first talking to her that she wasn't going anywhere. I can't frigging BELIEVE it! hahaha. It's ok though, one of the other agents there can just as easily take care of it but i think i'm a jinx for travel agents i really do!
