Some of you may have heard about the 25 year old that took a gun into a Montreal college and shot 19 people, killing one and seriously wounding a few others. His mother told the media, Oh he's a good man, a good son, just ask the neighbours. The neighbours said, um, we don't know the family. They kept themselves to themselves. Never had a converation with him other than please move your car. I guess Mum had blinders on. So many of them do. Now the papers are filled with interviews with "proppa goffs" explaining why this sorry arse was not in actual fact a Goth, because Goths are peaceful people.

The "experts" agree, saying that Goths are more likely to be suicidal than murderously violent, that these people that do stuff like this are more likely to have been bullied. Someone posted a comment on the killer's blog, Congratulations, you've just become the bully you always hated. I agree. Anyone that starts stockpiling weapons and harbouring that much anger has a lot more issues to deal with and it has nothing to do with the Goth culture. Millions of people like vampires and horror movies and very, very few of them go on rampages.

One remark in an interview that made me chuckle was from someone that considers himself Goth and has been for 20 years. He said the young kids today that say they're into the culture, are "mall goths" *snork*

And from the "Let that be a lesson to you" file: A man was convicted of trying to extort a half a million dollars from a restaurant when he said his mother had found a mouse in her soup. Proof... the mouse had no soup in its lungs and had not actually been cooked. He was given one year in jail. Mom was convicted too. Maybe they can share a cell.

Logged into my online banking and saw two Visa account numbers. Not that alarming considering i am switching it to a different kind of Visa card but when i made a payment today, i wasn't sure which account it went to, if the old one is inactivated and i haven't received the new card yet to activate that. Called the banking center and apparently the new card is active in theory and the old one is not in theory, but it isn't completely inactivated until i activate the new one when i get it. THey've already transfered the balance over to the new account number and basically, they said, i have one Visa account but two account numbers. Charges and payments now automatically will attach themselves to the new number. My head is spinning.

A couple of people in our department have got different jobs elsewhere within the organization, with a section of the Police department and apparently this section is taking over an old school that had been closed a few years ago. The very same elementary one i went to! It's nice to see that they're finding a use for the old building. It was a small elementary school built in the late 50's, one floor though there were three levels with a few steps between, and i think there used to be 14 classrooms, two for each grade, primary to 6. There is a small gym as well, the principal's office and a staff room. Oh and utility rooms and toilets of course. Anyway. Nice to see it being used again. Apparently they've done lots of interior renovations and upgrades for technology and stuff.
