Local council is back debating a new animal control bylaw that includes licensing cats. I'd like to see them try. It would cost big bucks to enforce, and to build a new shelter and many are saying the money could be better used elsewhere. They only get about 10% of the dog owners now to comply and there are three times as many cats in the region as dogs. Good luck with that. Most people who keep their cats indoors are not going to bother paying for licenses though if i had a cat and it was an outdoor cat, i probably would. The editorial cartoon in today's paper shows an older woman on the ground, having been mugged with the mugger running away in the background, and a city official standing there asking her how many cats she owns.
Heard this morning on the radio that a local young couple in their early 20s won a 4 million share of last week's lottery. The morning radio crew cheered because, why? it wasn't a 90 year old that was going to leave the money to their cats! Seriously though. It's nice to see a young couple win, or a group of people who all work together in a factory somewhere. It would be even nicer to see me win it. And i have no cats to will it to.
