Trip planning
May. 25th, 2009 03:16 pmI'm always planning a trip. Sometimes i'm planning a trip and then the one after that, or at least, making notes for it. Even while planning this recent jaunt to Amsterdam and Brussels, I was looking ahead to Graham's next visit in the fall and thinking about going to Montreal and Quebec City and we've already been invited to visit with friends of his in Copenhagen next year. Can you see why it's so difficult not to start looking up tourist info as soon as i know what a destination is likely to be?
We had thought about both cities in Quebec and thought that maybe we could just do a couple of day trips using Montreal as the base but it turns out that Quebec City is 3.5 hours or more just to get there by train or bus. That's a lot to go and return in one day. I'm starting to think that maybe we should just stay based in Montreal and take one day trip from there to Ottawa, Canada's capital where i've also got a handful of friends that we could get together with. It's about a 2.5 hour bus ride at the most, the trains being only a few and at inconvenient return times if we were to stay there for our evening meal. We can save Quebec for another time. Montreal is a great city and there's lots to do and see. Rather than running ourselves ragged like we usually do, it's time to slow down a little and absorb more of a place.
