The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett was one of my favourite books. It's about the building of a medieval cathedral and it's going to be made into a mini series for television instead of a movie. I'm very pleased about that. These big, long books always get chopped to bits for a movie, even if it's nearly 4 hours long. They just can't fit it all in so take the gist of the story, combine several characters into one, change things etc. This is going to be an 8 hour series, so it will either be shown in 4 2-hour blocks or 8 1-hour blocks, either is good for me. I'll watch it. What would really be nice is if it was on HBO or Paytv so there would be no commercial breaks. I suppose they'll release it on dvd after and if it's really good i might get it.
