All the time I've had the ereader, 4 or 5 years? I've always thought I would attempt to borrow ebooks from the library. It would be done through a desktop app from Adobe, Adobe Digital Editions which would track the ebook borrowing time coded into the download. I never did. I downloaded books and bought them. Then, maybe sometime last year I downloaded Overdrive onto my phone. It will connect to libraries that use that technology and you can borrow books and read them using the app. I thought about doing that, too and this week I finally did it. There seemed to be a lot of hoops to jump through and verifications that didn't always work and refusals to accept my password that I knew was the right one. Couldn't change it either. I followed the instructions as to the length and combination of letters/numbers etc and it wouldn't take that either and gave no reason. I nearly gave up. I did finally get it all working together and then had trouble getting a book. One last try, I don't think I did anything different but this time it was smooth.

My library is getting better at the availability of ebooks though they still don't have everything I search for. Anything older isn't going to be there. They still have only limited copies of ebooks to borrow too. I suppose it's licensing or something. Anyway, it's another option for reading. I usually do have a book on the go on my phone, normally through the Kobo app. Lots of times I may go out and about and only have my phone and some basic stuff with me rather than my whole purse/bag with ereader etc. and on the weekends, the ereader is generally by my bed. Reading on the phone was always a good way to spend the commute traveling wherever I was going and if i was in a restaurant or coffee shop or in a park, i could still read. Now, of course, I'll have G. with me most of the time off-work hours so I have someone to talk to instead of reading.

We are going to an 80th birthday party on Friday night for a lifetime friend of the family, my mother's best friend. She and her husband have met Graham but her two daughters haven't. They are the two people I've known the longest, all my life, that aren't blood family, and yet it never worked out that they met him. Neither was able to come to the wedding and a few other times we tried to meet up, they weren't available. There were a couple of groups-of-friends meals and I called once or twice and didn't get through.

I think we have it sorted as to what drugstore we'll use for his medications. I was trying to find out which was the cheapest so as to make the insurance coverage stretch further because they only cover a certain amount per year and even with a 20% co-pay on prescriptions, it's not going to last the whole year. The only place that is going to be cheaper is Costco but it's awkward to get to by bus. I know my mom is willing to help out but it's still inconvenient for her at times and you don't like to be dependent. The drugstore next to the doctor's office would normally be classed as "out of the way" as  well if you weren't already at the office and needing to drop off and wait for the prescription straight away. If it was something you needed to call in at another time and pick up, it wouldn't be very convenient. But I noticed that they do free delivery! That makes all the difference. I was speaking to the pharmacist who is also the owner and she was honest and said her prices were on par with most of the others, mentioning one that does tend to be more expensive.
