Lessee... 8 a.m. Mom (
nancy_j) must be in the air by now. I can't imagine having to get up at 4 to get to an airport that early! Yes i can.. i did it once. We were in London and a flight to Venice left early. We were awakened at something like 3:30 or earlier, given juice and rolls and put on a bus to Gatwick which was scarily busy that early in the morning. I think the flight left at 7 or something like that. It was brutal and i felt like dirt. The only good thing was that we got to Venice and into the hotel early becaues it was an organized tour. The rest of the day was free so we went into Venice ( we were staying in Marghera), took the waterbus up the Grand Canal to Piazza San Marco and spent the afternoon walking the streets and crossing bridges back to the termini. It was a nice day and we were really glad we saw Venice under sunshine because the next day was the first day of the official tour and it came down in sheets in the morning. Piazza San Marco was flooded and you walked around the perimeter on low tables above the water and all the tour groups huddled under the eaves of the walkways in front of the beautiful stone buildings. Gondolas weren't sailing so anyone that booked a tour didn't get it. We didn't anyway so nothing lost there. The rain eventually stopped but it was cold and overcast all day.
I digressed there. lol
My niece is having her driving test this morning. Sent a text for good luck.
The bus nearly got into an accident this morning, missed it by inches from the look of it. The bus was coming along by the terminal just about 30 feet from where it would turn to enter the terminal and a car came across traffic in front of it and cut the bus off. The driver had to stop quickly and that ain't easy to do with a bus. He managed it. Missed the car by *that* much. I wasn't at the front but i don't think it could have been by more than a foot. The car stopped as well and then zoomed past into the parking lot. As we came around the corner into the terminal we could see the car pulled into a parking space, the windows down and it looked like the two passengers were shaken up a bit. Too right. She couldn't have been looking. How can you miss a bus?
