tvordlj: (Easy chairs)

We've got a holiday Monday and i feel like i've been away from work for so long! Well i haven't been there much over the last two weeks, as well. Back to the routine tomorrow though as my back is feeling stronger. It's never 100% but it's not 100% yet of what it usually is but well on the way.

I was in the hall outside the apartment this morning going to the laundry room when my neighbour asked me if i wanted two chairs of hers. She had two chairs that matched her dining room set that she had never used. They'd been in storage for 20 years she said and she still had four at the table. She was going to take them down to the garage where the garbage tip is and leave them there for anyone to take. Well if she's just giving them away, sure i'll take them. They're a dark mahogany colour, good solid wood with cream padded seats. I found a couple of corners to put them. Oh yes i know, i really don't need more furniture but i couldn't resist lol Chairs are just so useful to have sometimes.

And the appropriate icon too. For my tiny apartment folding charis are great, but you can never have enough chairs for people to sit on. Myself, I only have enough for me and 3 others, but in a 380 square foot apartment, any more and it seems very crowded

Yikes yes. I have four chairs for my dining room table, and a spare that i used to use for a computer chair. Plus the computer chair and a rocking chair (and the couch/chair set). I don't have a lot of company often but i have had groups where i've needed more seating.

I love a rocking chairl. Grammie Aalders always had one beside the stove in her big kitchen & is was a fight as to who got to sit in it. Christine gave me her lazy-boy when she moved back in with her dad and that rocks, but it's not quite the same as a comfy old wooden rocking chair.

And these are very nice. I can't believe she was giving them away but i wasn't going to give her a chance to change her mind :)

Score!!! on the chairs :))

Glad your back is improving. Since mine went out a couple of weeks ago, I have practically duct-taped my orthotics to my feet :))

My back doesn't get upset if i'm around the apartment without shoes on, mind you, which is good because i'd hate wearing them around the house. I usually can get away with one day here or there in sandals without them but will have to be more prudent otherwise i guess.
