So i called in to work sick and slept some more until the phone rang with the wrong number. It rang later on this morning with the same wrong number too though i'm not sure if they asked for the same establishment. It figures though, i got up about 9:30 and even though i didn't take more tylenol before i went back to bed at 6, my mouth actually does feel a bit better! Went and filled the prescript anyway just in case, but got some ibuprophen as well which is better than tylenol if there's swelling, which there still is a bit. So my mood is a bit brighter and i bought some Toblerone chocolate for comfort. The baking chocolate chips just weren't doing it for me ;)

I rarely whinge and feel sorry for myself unless in some sort of pain for an extended time i.e. more than a couple of days. This time last year i was in bad shape because of my back and that was far worse than this really. I think i'll be better to sleep tonight. I haven't had too much trouble dropping off but i have been waking about 2:30 or 3 for various lengths of time since Wednesday night. That ibuprofen seems to be working quite well so i may not take the painkillers. I can do without another night of "Twin Peaks" type dreams!

I second the last bit- having at times in the past had to take really strong opiates for my back, I am always totally baffled by the idea that people take them for pleasure if not in agonizing pain; the mental effects were most disconcertingly unpleasant.

Knock on wood, i've never had to take anything *that* strong and the worst effects have only ever been drowsiness or maybe a bit of light headedness. I think too, i'm such a big person that what often makes other people feel spacey, doesn't with me, i.e. a type of muscle relaxer/pain reliever we can get here for back pain but not by prescription. It can't be got in the U.K. without a prescription as i found out when i ran out one time over there. It seems that the U.K. might be more strict about what you can get over/behind the counter without a doctor's prescription.

About your tooth...

Hi Diane - I have lurked in your journal since you mentioned it on the Coronation Street guestbook and you inspired me to start one of my own.

Just wanted to mention that at my ripe old age, I had my wisdom teeth extracted last Autumn, and I too was floored at the amount of pain I had to endure afterwards. I've a very high pain tolerance but aaack, I had to resort to prescription meds too, much to my disgust. The explanation I was given by the oral surgeon, when I went for a checkup, was that it was the injection site which was the problem. Hmmmmppppfffff. Personally, I think it was the dynamite charges they used to blast the teeth out.

One thing which helped me was popsicles. Hope you feel better soon.

LOL yep it feels like he used dynamite! I had my wisdom teeth out at 18 and was put under and i don't remember this much pain. I think they came out fairly easily. Today's the first day that it's actually felt a bit better and i haven't taken the tylenol 3, just the extra strength ibuprofen which seems to be far better than the other tylenol products. Wahey!

And Welcome to live journal :)
