I looked at the info for the movie that was starting. Hmm.... lead actress's name is "Charisma Carpenter". Is this a cheap porn movie? Nah, just a Canadian production. Should have guessed. The lead actor can't seem to keep his mouth shut. I think he's got too many teeth or something. It makes him look like he's got a perma-smirk. Or it could just be the actor's way of making sure at least one dimple shows at any given time. There *are* some good Canadian movies, and if you come across Niagara Motel, see it! Quirkly little movie but at least the dialogue was more or less fresh and original. Most of them are fairly bog standard with actors you've never seen (and no wonder) and dialogue that is about as sharp as a bathroom sponge.

Ha! I have to see that. I believe it was filmed here in Halifax and Charisma Carpenter and Brendan Nicholas were in Buffy the Vampire slayer. So they are actually relatively well know (at least to buffy fans!)

I didn't recognize any local locations but then i wasn't looking for them. I thought it was filmed in Toronto. Really, though, the dialogue was soooo cliche and dreadful and the film score was that close to a porn soundtrack it wasn't funny. lol

I was wondering about Niagara Motel....I thought it looked somewhat interesting, but I thought it would stink since it was Canadian, LOL. I guess I"ll have to check it out!

One of my friends recommended it to me and lent me the dvd and i did like it. It's also now on the Movie Network if you get that. There are occasional Canadian films that are pretty good when they use a decent writer. IT's not that the acting or writing is *bad*, as such, but it's not that inspired either. I can always tell. There's some equally uninspiring American made movies as well but you see more of them(Canadian) on the Movie Network because of Canadian content regulations

I always liked this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097883/
but no idea if it's considered Canadian or US since the imdb shows both countries listed. It was filmed in Toronto.

hmmmm well lots of American movies are filmed in Toronto or Vancouver or Montreal but this one has a few venerable Canadian actors in supporting parts too. I don't consider it Canadian if it was only shot here but if the writers, director and/or producer was Canadian as well, that's the ticket.

I got to meet him and the rest of Kids in the Hall when they toured. I made them cookies and banana bread and got their autographs in exchange. He was the nicest of the bunch!
