My television wouldn't turn on this morning. Oh Noes!!! Tragedy! Well not really. In the general scheme of things, there are far more important things to be upset about, of course, but i don't have miss one if it's not on in the background. I tried fresh batteries, i tried using the on/off on the set itself and tried unplugging it. No joy. What to do!? Uh yeah, buying a new tv... The old one isn't all that old but i can't find any receipts so it's got to be 3 or 4 years old. If i did buy an extended waranty it will be done by now. Sooooooo Mom picked me up and out we went to Best Buy. I wanted one that i could hook up the vcr to as i still use that. STill waffling on going PVR. I know, i'll love it when i do finally succumb but it still sticks in my craw to pay 15 bucks a month to rent it from the cable company and it's still about 500 to buy outright.

I ended up with a Dynex as it seemed to have the input i needed for both a dvd and a vcr. Turns out i probably didn't need that after all and could have gone with the Panasonic i had seen that i liked but it's here now and set up and it's fine. I did have some trouble getting the signal to sort out. The picture isn't as good as HD and even a bit ... softer or something, thant the old tv but it's a bigger screen (26) and it's HD ready. I had truble getting it to recognize the signal and at first it would only work on the antenna setting. Otherwise it kept wanting me to scan for channels even though it said i didn't need to do that if i had it set on Cable or Cable/satelite. I finally did get it to scan and work on the cable setting and managed to get the picture full screen without distorting it.
