I've got a request for a photo and this time, they are asking how much i would charge for it. It's for a book on museums. I have no idea what to ask. Anyone think $100 is too much? I'm going to ask for a copy of the book if possible because i love museums and if they say yes, maybe i should charge less? I don't want to say which one because I don't want to jinx it ;)

I think $100 sounds reasonable but a lot depends on the book. Is it going to have a print run of 50 or 5000 copies?

IT's apparently a project for a Leveled Literacy Intervention Program, according to the email. Not a big publisher like Random House or Penguin or something. I'm thinking 100 is reasonable too, i just don't want to overprice myself. Underpricing for my first sale isn't so bad

I didn't get paid for the photos used in Worldwide Gothic (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Worldwide-Gothic-Chronicle-Natasha-Scharf/dp/1906191190/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313187200&sr=1-1) but did get a free copy of the book.

I got a free copy of the textbook that used a photo of mine. But this person seemed expecting to pay so why not!

Hmmm, I haven't a clue. What if they were going to offer you $200 and you only asked for $100. Is there a way you could find out what their going rates are?

Well it's for a Leveled Literacy Intervention Program that are putting the book together so it's not a big, famous publisher like Random House. I should probably start low like the 100 and if they quibble then it was too much. If they say ok, then it's all good.

I have absolutely no idea, although it would be interesting to find out should I ever be lucky enough to get to that level.

Nevertheless, you should request a free copy of the book. :-)
