Getting near the end of my sessions with the trainer. I'm really going to miss him. I really want to  keep going to the gym so i really will have to discipline myself now. He suggested for the last few weeks that we meet on Mondays and Fridays and I come on my own on Wednesdays. That's a good idea, and I also thought about filling out a spreadsheet or form with each time i go and what i did and emailing it to him, maybe once a month. That might keep me honest, too! It's too easy to skip a workout and then it all falls apart.

And the next lot of books:

36 - Murder in the Marais - Cara Black
Series about a female private detective featuring a different area of Paris in each book. It's a bit over the top (running across steep rooftops wearing high stilettos. Really???) but the descriptions of Paris are great and you get a good feel for the neighbourhoods involved. Things seem to work out a bit too cleanly and slick but it's easy reading at least. I might read more, we'll see.

37 - Best Kept Secret - Jeffrey Archer
Third in the "Clifton Chronicles" about the Clifton family. Pretty good but i don't like how he ends the book in a cliffhanger, like ... And the verdict is...... " and you have to wait for the next book to be written and published. That's kind of manipulative. I've got the first three and they are good. I do like family sagas but it's also a bit annoying.

38 - When the Walls Fell - Monique Martin
A professor and his assistant get sent back in time. This time it's to San Francisco just before the big earthquake of 1906 and they have to stop someone being murdered or risk not existing in the future.

39 - Stories I Only Tell My Friends - Rob Lowe
Autobiography. I like him and it's well written. Still not really in depth about his addictions but he's honest about them anyway.

40 - The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
Very good book about a young girl in Munich in Nazi Germany. It's narrated by "Death". Different kind of persepective.

41 - A Perfect Duet - Glenda Young
Glenda, a friend of mine, has written a little novel about the history of two lovely Coronation Street characters, Roy and Hayley Cropper. It tells their story from their first meeting, through their storylines to Hayley's death from pancreatic cancer.

42 - The Silent Girl - Tess Gerritsen
One of a series about a female police detective, Jane Rizzoli, and a coroner, Maura Isles. I think they've made a tv series out of it though i've not seen it. Not bad. I'd say better than the Cara Black book above.

Graham will be here at the end of August for my niece's wedding and then we're going to drive down into New England along the Maine coast as far as Salem. Probably get a day in Boston as well and possibly a whale watching cruise if we have the time for it. I'd like to do some of the outlet shopping as well, either in Kittery or Freeport.
