Had a lovely dinner with my friend Connie from Amherst and with Carole from work after work yesterday. We went to the Old Triangle, an Irish pub downtown near Province House. Great menu, Irish pub style food, a few good import beers and the pub is in an old heritage building and has three levels, one is a Snug, with a few little cubbyholes that seat 6 or 8 people but not good for eating as the table is coffee table level. Fine for finger foods and drinks. They have trad Irish music and dancing regularly too.

Got home and there was a cheque in the mailbox from the insurance company to cover the rest of my medical expenses from when i was away. Blue Cross had sent a cheque last week but it was only for about half of what i expected and when i called to check, it turned out they didn't pay the phone calls from the hotel which they told me they would and they issued the cheque based on the exchange rate from euros, not pounds. The cheque i got yesterday was the difference plus the phone calls so we're all squared away now and it's in the bank.

I really want to go see a movie but there isn't anything i want to see, and hasn't been for a couple of months!

I've been mainly acquiring dvd's to replace my favourite movies or add favourites to my collection. I haven't bought very many recent movies on dvd other than Gosford Park, Bridget Jones, Talented Mr. Riply and Almost Famous. Some from the 90's and 80's and i think the oldest movie i have on dvd is either All About Eve or The Quiet Man. Without looking it up i seem to remember both were released around the same time, 1950. (not on dvd obviously) I just got three more from Columbia House, the mail order place, LadyHawke, Breakfast at Tiffany's and the Lion in Winter.

I never hardly ever bought video tapes of my favourites oddly enough. I only have a small number including Labyrinth, the Commitments, Gone with the Wind, Blast from the Past, Tequila Sunrise and Shirley Valentine. Haven't been able to find Shirley or the Commitments on dvd, it has to be north american format because my player won't play international and the one in the pc will only let me switch formats up to 5 times then it stays at the last one i changed it so i am not going to chance that.

When the time comes to get a new tv i'll likely get a new dvd player with it, with all the bells and whistles. Maybe a dvd-vcr combo might even be good. My tv isn't stereo so i don't get quite the sound i could but it's ok for most movies. I have the dvd rom in the computer if i need to play something that needs to have stereo sound, like a music dvd.

I discovered there really is such a word, it's not just a euphemism for Horseshit or Bullshit! or so i was told. On a clysedale horse, they have long hairy white tufts that hang over their hooves. These are the horse "feathers" or "feather" as i think it's properly known.
