These Dreams

Man, i had some weird ass dreams last night. I don't remember most of it but images that do come back to me include being in bed with John Goodman talking (i think it was, or else it was Norm from Cheers), the vision of a male high school friend wearing some sort of bright pink and white halter top minidress over a shirt and um, tights maybe and this was what he was wearing for swimming, two big fluffy cats and corresponding cat baskets, a bathroom, the parking lot area of the bus terminal and sports complex, there were other people there but i don't remember who. All these unconnected images due to the fact that there was actually no logical thread running through this dream. Bizarre. You wake up, shake your head and think WTF was that?! Normally i'll have strange Twin Peaks like dreams if i've had something spicy like pizza later in the evening but last night i had a bagel before bed.

I don't often remember my dreams. I don't often have nightmares though i used to have occaisional ones surrounding nuclear war. Oddly enough, those disappeared after the Berlin Wall came down and the cold war ended. I used to have unsettling dreams about my teeth falling out but there were a few years i hadn't got to the dentist due to finances and once i started again, those went away. Also used to have dreams featuring my ex husband and me venting anger against him. no guesses where that came from lol Don't have those anymore either. Sometimes i dream i'm running but i can't run very fast no matter how hard i try but other times i can run so fast i'm nearly flying.

How about you? Recurring dreams or themes? Do you remember your dreams? Do you believe dreams have deeper meanings, do they reflect your day or your mood or your deeper fears/hopes?

About 95% of the time my dreams make perfect sense to me, in that I know where the overall theme is coming from, even if the details are bizarre. My subconcious rarely surprises me.

I don't remember my dreams much past waking unless they've been exceptionally good or exceptionally disturbing. I tend to end up in similar places or doing similar things, but I don't have any true recurring dreams.

Have you ever found yourself dreaming just before you wake, and you are actually in the process of waking up but you know you're dreaming? You know you are and you can actually "direct" the dream? I've had that happen just before i become fully conscious.

Most of my dreams are just a carry over from whatever happened during the day. I've only ever had one dream that kept reoccurring. A man in a long, dark trench coat would walk into my bedroom...I'd see him walking in the door, and stand at the foot of my bed and stare at me. Normally, something like this would unnerve me, and there were many times I felt like I saw him standing there while I was awake...in the shadows. However, he felt like family, for some reason. Perhaps a great grandfather, or a great-great grandfather. I almost felt like he was watching over me, or protecting me while I slept. Really weird! I had this dream repeatedly over about a 15 year span. Haven't had it in the past 5 or so years. Not sure who he was or why he always did the same thing, but I'd love to know.

I have a recurring dream every so often. And this dream was long before Shawn of the dead. In this dream I am in a cinema with some friends. Then we hear about a disturbance outside, and inside the cinema people are starting to act strangely. They are turning in to zombies and attacking others, so my friends and I make for the fire exit and get outside. Zombies are everywhere and we weave our way through, trying to get to safety. I have a shot gun, don't ask where I got it, I just have it lol, and I'm shooting zombies all over the place. Then we see a McDonalds, it's brightly lit in the darkness of the night, and all the people inside can be seen clearly, sat at tables, unaware of the zombie threat outside. Then the zombies spot them and make their way to the huge glass panes of the windows, crowding round, pushing against them with rotting hands, I try to shout out a warning to the people inside but they can't hear me, and then the glass gives way and a sea of zombies pours into the McDonalds, they attack the customers and start eating them, and in the dream it actually crosses my mind that the McDonald's customers have become the fast food. Well then it changes and we are running across a field, leaving the carnage behind. I still have my shot gun but there are no zombies nearby. Then we are on the top deck of a double decker bus, no zombies, and instead we are simply on our way somewhere. I don't know where to because I always wake up then. ;)

Don't ask me to 'splain about John Goodman. *shrug* If i knew i was going to dream about being in bed with a celebrity, though JG is cuddly and sexy in his own right, i'd pick Alan Rickman, Clive Owen or Johnny Depp lol

everyone knows about my dreams..the tornado ones and sometimes the pregnant ones..and giving birth.
I do have a ton of weird dreams too..that don't make sense..but my fav dreams are the erotic ones...safe sex I call them..cause I FEEL EVERYTHING..and I mean EVERYTHING. I hate to wake up.
Now Gramie..my take on that recurring dream....I am probably wrong..but I think all the zombies are your troubles..you had a number of sad things happen to you..losing some people you have loved dearly..and I think you have felt very helpless like you did when you saw the zombies in the dream attacking the regular people..and then you got away from them and were above them and free..I think that is letting go of grief.

I too have dreams about loose teeth or teeth falling out from time to time. Not as often as I used to though.
I know I have more but they escape me. I do however, have dreams with reoccuring people if that makes sense...people I went to elementary school with that perhaps I have not seen in 10 or 15 years...why they are so close to my conscience all the time that they would be in my dreams is beyond me and it is not like they were super close friends...they were classmates. Very bizarre.
My grandmother (who was psychic, who I've inherited this from) had reoccuring dreams that she was in a foreign city walking the streets with no idea where she was or where she was going and had no money in her pockets. She had it over and over.

Oh and i forgot to mention my other recurring theme. I"m in the house i grew up in. But i'm an adult and i know i shouldn't be in that house because we don't live there anymore. The new owners will be home soon, or will catch me there.
