Seeing as quite a few people on my flist are looking forward to a gig by the Bauhaus (forgive me if that should just be Bauhaus ... what do i know? LOL) Anyway, i decided to download a few tunes to see what they were like. Hard to know what to pick so i just went by titles that i liked. Of the ones i tried, i liked about half and one of my favourites is an industrial mix of Passion of Lovers. [livejournal.com profile] naturalbornkaos it reminds me a little of some of the industrial mix stuff you did a few years ago, or reminiscent of it anyway. Anyway i liked that one. Also kind of liked the cover of Ziggy Stardust but really hated a cover of Spirit in the Sky and also disliked Of Lilies and Remains, Dancing. Also liked Sanity Assassin, Theme from the Lost Boys (soundtrack) and All In My Mind. Another song that was tagged as Bauhaus appears to actually be Love and Rockets "Holy Fool" but i like it. The ones i didn't like i found a bit too punk. That's the only way i can describe it.

So the question is... what other Bauhaus tracks can i try that i might like given the list of the ones i like? Anything else to suggest? (i do this about once a year and usually manage to get a handful of new tracks and artists that i quite like!

Argh, one of the many things I hate about music downloading. Too many idiots mistagging things. ;) As people have already pointed out, some of those aren't Bauhaus tunes. On top of those, "Spirit in the Sky" to the best of my knowledge was those chancers Dr & The Medics and was never covered by Bauhaus.

Not sure, based on the selection you've posted, which ones you'd like but I personally love "Stigmata Martyr", "In The Flat Field", "Hollow Hills", "The Spy In The Cab", "Spirit".... to name the first few that come into my head. I like most Bauhaus material though. ;)

I'd be curious to hear this 'industrial' version of "The Passion of Lovers" - any idea who it's by? Would you maybe be able to email it to me?

If you're going to do something old-fashioned and buy a CD, btw, I'd heartily recommend the live album "Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape"... it's got many of the best tracks and they're almost all better than the original versions...

Hmm... Spirit in the Sky is definitely not the original i remember. Nor does it sound like just a weird remix so it's either Bauhaus or someone else i think. It sucked anyway.

I shall make a note of the ones you mentioned. I may get a cd, we'll see.

Which email shall i used? Seems to me the last time i used the jewishmail one it bounced and does hotmail have enough space for a 4.5 mg file? I thought it was by Bauhaus but who knows, now lol

Can't remember who did the original "Spirit in the Sky" but the vaguely gothy band who covered it in the 80's was Doctor and the Medics. Indeed it sucked, but then I think the song's bilge in any format, really. :)

Send the mp3 to cjlines (TAKE OUT THE SPAMTRAP) @ cjlines. (MORE SPAMTRAP) aviators.net (NOT PARANOID ABOUT SPAM AT ALL) if you get chance, thanks! :)

Thanks for that! Got the email.

That is DEFINITELY not Bauhaus, I'll tell you that much. :)

No idea who did it but it's actually kinda cool.

Don't you think it sounds a bit like some of the stuff you used to do? Anyway i will have to do a bit of digging and see if i can find out who did that

There was a cd of covers called the Passion of Covers and someone called The Shroud did a cover of it so perhaps it's that. I can't find it but it could be. I found the Bauhaus version and though i like it, i like the industrial remix better. Overall i think they're not really my style though there were one or two more i liked from some of the recommendations.

The original Spirit in the Sky was Norman Greenbaum.

Yes i remember the one from the 80's being a remake from the older one though i didn't remember that name as being the artist. Still, i do remember it well lol
