... is getting a help desk incident from users who are far too vague... "I can't save data in such and such... any idea?"

... is getting a help desk incident from someone who decides to clean up their hard drive and deletes a piece of software or driver they didn't know was important.

... is finding out that what you set up for three different offices is admired so much that two more want it too. You warn them, yet in doing so makes the size of the data file so enormous because there is no other way around it to give the other two offices access, that inevitably they will call the help desk and say their system is too slow.

AAh- the view from the other side of the fence. We punters must be very annoying to the expert. I know I don't have the right vocab or concepts to explain my problems/priorities, because I never learnt the theory, just picked things up by doing it and making mistakes.

It's not even that so much. I just ask that they give me a little more information. I got the email about "I can't save data" and then got a notification from the help desk and then they emailed back and said "Never mind". I never did find out what the problem was and i don't want to know LOL! And number 2's boss emailed me 10 minutes after i spoke to the guy about his deleted files and told him that someone would be down. Boss urges me to please look into the problem. Am i sitting here with bated breath awaiting your problems? No , i have many other people to see to as well and as i told the other guy on the phone, it's being taken care of. I felt like making them wait for it after that. It's not as if it was 2 or 3 days later with no contact or follow up. It was 10 frigging minutes! *sigh*
