*sigh* i did it again. Book sales always draw me in. Two more for the unread stack. A Place of Execution by Val McDermid, looks like an unsolved murder that rears it's ugly head years later... and White by Rosie Thomas. Admitedly a chick book but about mountain climbing. I can hear [livejournal.com profile] rattler impatiently muttering, yes, yes,but what about the music? ;) U2 "All that you can't leave behind" on the strength of a remix of Elevation that i heard and really liked, and R.E.M. 'Out of Time'.

Why would I complain about "Out Of Time"? That's one of my favourite albums of all time.. especially right now, I seem to have recently rediscovered it all over again. I think that entire album is about one particular subject (bar "Shiny Happy People") and it says more than almost any other record I care to name... Or even if it's not a concept LP, "Country Feedback" and "Losing My Religion" are as powerful as anything I've heard...

Did i *say* you would complain about my choices? In fact i figured you would approve of R.E.M. though figured you would dismiss U2 out of hand. Unfortunately, so have i. It's not as good as i hoped it would be. *oh well* Kind of snooze-y really. The remix of Elevation i really liked but the album version has far less kick to it. The remix was apparently used on the Lara Croft soundtrack so the mp3 title says. Not sure how i feel about REM, will have to relisten again when i can concentrate on it as more than just background music. I already knew "Losing my Religion" from before. Over all the cd didn't grab me on first listen but as i said, i will give it a more concentrated effort.
