The lure of the bookstore and a gift card for $50 burning a hole in my wallet. Too much to resist! I Love browsing bookstores but i spend far too much. I should be frequenting the library or second hand shops i suppose but i just can't stay away for long. I have pretty much made my way through the stack of books in my room so i can allow myself to build a new one. I am current just starting Harry Potter, Order of the Phoenix but that's hardcover and so that is for home reading. I am reading "Constant Delights: Rakes, Roughes and Scandal in Restoration England at the moment which is the one i read on the bus. I'm in the last third of that so it's safe to buy more books. I do have several small volumes of Samuel Pepys's diaries but they are easy to pick up and put down when i feel the urge.
The bag of books that i took away from the shop today contains:
Perfume by Patrick Suskind One of the books i've seen recommended around LJ and various forums.
Plot Against America by Philip Roth Another one i have written down in my notebook so i must have seen someone mention it.
Stepping Stones by Maureen Lee Some fluff to read on the plane. Gotta love good fluff.
The Sisters Mortland by Sally Beauman Another recent book i think i saw mentioned in the newspaper. I have read her before and liked her books.
Frommers London Day-by-Day I am a sucker for travel guides and i don't really need another one on London but this one is pocket sized and could be useful for self-guiding in museums.
And a Sudoku puzzle book.
