Cobble magic

I've been on the set of Coronation Street twice before now. This morning was the third time. We were a group of about 35 or 40 perhaps, having a weekend "coroping" here in Manchester and a good friend who organized it all had a contact at the studios. We were told to meet at the gates at 11 sharp for a 15 minute run around to take photos. In the end we were there about 40 minutes. I figured we'd have more than the allotted time and that was nice. And no matter how many times i go there, there's still new things to take pictures of. It was the first time for most of the group and they were so excited! And yes, though i've been before, it still has that magic for me.
It's going to have magic for someone else too. Good friends of mine (Glenda and Barry!) came up to us and said "we have news!".... He proposed to her while sitting on the bench outside the salon on the set!!!! It is only appropriate, after all, as it was Corrie that brought them together in the first place over 10 years ago. They were both kind of emotional and i said i though i was going to shed a tear too! I'm really pleased for them! They're a really nice couple!
It's always a surprise to see how small the set it. It's built at about 2/3 "real" size but films larger. There's a good chance that ITV will be building new facilities and they will have the room to build a full size outdoor set. They'll be filming in high definition soon too and the old set is going to look very worn.
Tonight there's a buffet and party at a local hotel where most of the people are staying so we're really looking forward to that.
