He's in the air heading west

gramie_dee from Manchester airport, one was from the plane just before they were told to turn off the phones. That was a couple of hours ago. Now i have (*counts*) nearly 4 hours before i can leave for the airport (earlyish) and just about 5 and a half before his plane lands.
Hair trimmed and styled this morning. The weather is gloomy and overcast :( I know it doesn't really matter but i really hoped it would be sunny for his first view of the city. We've had an absolutely crap month, crapper than usual i might add. After i had my hair done i walked along the waterfront. There's a Spanish tall ship in port but unfortunately they weren't letting anyone on as they were taking fuel on board and wouldn't let the general public on for safety reasons. It's a four mast schooner but it's not a wooden ship. Looks like it was a reno job on a steel hulled something or other. The wooden ships are just so much nicer and sleeker.
The waterfront was very quiet at first. Outside tables and upended chairs stacked, workers beavering away industriously and delivery vans pulled up to closed restaurants. Few people around bar the occaisional jogger, dog walker or mum walking her kids in the stroller. A few stragglers around the ferry terminal. After about a half hour, though there still weren't many about, the tourists were slowly starting to come out. There's a cruise ship in dock, the first of the season. I saw a couple of the painted lobsters, too. Very neat! I took some photos but they're on film so no pics just yet.
I also went over to the shopping mall to get some ink for the printer. They have a refill/recycle place that has ink for very good prices and it's good stuff as well. I have to get the individual colour tanks for my Canon and they had on a deal that gave you one of each of the three plus 2 black tanks for $35+tax. I really lucked out too because they actually had a real Canon brand ink which is unusual. Apparently the owner got hold of it from someone that was not using their printer. I got all the colours and one black ink in the Canon brand plus the other black in the generic brand for the same sale price! Right place. Right time!
