All over the map

I was so warm and comfortable in bed this morning that i really seriously considered not getting up and just calling in to work to skive off today. But no. I have to see if i can get a matte for a frame today though i doubt i'll get one specially cut since i need it for tomorrow. I am never again going to paint on a non-standard size canvas!

Visited Dad after work yesterday. The other two people that were in his room on Saturday were gone so he had the whole room to himself. Nice and quiet! That probably won't last long.

Went to the shopping center to take my insurance form in to the travel agent. Man what a lot of traffic! The bus sat on Bayers Road i swear for 20 minutes and it was even more painful because i was sitting by these two college age lads who had got on by the university and were talking the most complete and utter bollocks the whole way. One of them was Asian and the Caucasian asked him did white people really all look the same to him? The Asian boy didn't seem offended and there was a discussion about how much variation there was in white races as opposed to the others. Sheesh. The Asian lad didn't seem to be quite as full of shit as the other lad who was so full of it you really could call him "Shit for brains". There was a woman sitting across from them who was as amused by their conversations as i was. When i say "amused", i mean, with the expression on our faces saying "Dear God, what rock did these two crawl out from under?" Then they got off when i did and Idiot number 1 said to his friend "That woman was listening to our entire conversation!" But the Asian lad pointed out that they were talking rather loudly. I kept thinking that the bus driver must hear some load of crap in the run of a day some days.

Anyway, the travel agent sorted out my form and got all the documents together and she's couriering it to the insurance company today! I thought i would have to do all that and mail it. She didn't think there would be a problem getting the money back. $832 worth so i hope not. Probably will take a couple or 3 weeks at this time of year. I won't be surprised if it takes a little longer. Did i mention that the travel agent that i originally used at that office was gone? Yet again i seem to be the kiss of death for travel agents. Almost every one i've ever used has then left the office within a year, though to be fair, some have just transferred to other offices. I'm getting paranoid!

Couldn't get a matte for that painting for that frame and besides i don't think a matte would look right if it isn't going to be wide enough. The lady at the framing shop suggested a decorative easel but i still don't like that because the painting is on a board not a stretched canvas and i don't know, it would just look unfinished so i decided not to give the painting to my friend after all and have bought festive salt and pepper shakers instead, to go with a Corrie calendar i had made with my photos from a set visit and some homemade candy. I would like to give her a painting sometime but perhaps i'll sort out a better frame some other time. There used to be a craft store in Burnside that sold bits of frames, so you could buy two lengths of 7 inches and 2 lengths of 9 inches (or whatever you needed) and they snapped together. You could get them stained or unfinished to paint them yourself. Haven't seen that around since that store shut. I have heard that a Michael's craft store is going to open in Bayers Lake in the new year. That's a large American chain store that has a lot of stuff so maybe they'll have it or can get it. Hmm... must google. Wonder what those frame bits would be called?

Update: HA! Sectional Frame Kits that's what i want.
